ABOUT ME
Hi, my name is Di and I am a psychotherapist and counsellor. I am here because I believe I can offer you support which can include feeling more able to manage your concerns, find meaning and purpose in your life and to know and accept more parts of yourself.
I believe psychotherapy and counselling can transform lives and so should be accessible to all. I work for a charity offering low to zero cost counselling and am happy to be part of this platform that seeks to keep costs as low as possible for people seeking talking therapies.
My work for the charity involves the supervision of trainee Counsellors and I regularly run training courses on the impact of bereavement for professionals working in end of life care, first responders and trainee General Practitioners.
MY EXPERIENCE
I have been working with clients since 2019. Most of my clients have lived through some form of loss, whether that be from bereavement, family breakdown, divorce and separation, or a lost sense of self often linked to a childhood trauma. Many have experienced traumatic events including first response workers including the police, fire and ambulance service and veterans. I have been privileged to witness these clients find ways of accommodating and learning to live with life changing events.
I have worked with numerous neurodivergent clients, supporting them to make sense of their diagnosis and exploring their history to find new ways to understand what has happened to them and normalise their way of being.
My MA research involved a study of the experience of being an adult adoptee and I have worked with clients who are exploring their identities, their relationships and struggles with attachment.
MY APPROACH
You will find me to be warm, open-minded and curious about you and your life experience. I will seek at all times to work with you at your pace, focusing on the concerns that matter to you most. Your safety is important to me. This means I can help you find strategies to manage any difficult thoughts and feelings you may experience and I will work in a confidential and ethical way.
I am trained as an integrative therapist, and so I use a variety of approaches tailored to your needs.
