ABOUT ME

My name is Kimberley and I am a Integrative Psychotherapist, supporting clients through Couples Therapy, Family Therapy, Individual Therapy, Young Persons & Teenagers Therapy.

My journey to become a psychotherapist started in 2001, when I studied for 7 years, as I was passionate about becoming a multi skilled psychotherapist and I’ve never looked back. The work that I have done supporting my clients over the past 17 years has been so rewarding. My training has taken me in many different areas in the psychotherapy world, which means that I can work in many different areas; this entails working with Couples, Individuals, Families and Adolescents (4 yr olds – 18 yr olds) When working with couples this includes, relationship issues, separation, child conflict, and coparenting sessions. When working with families, this also involves separation, child conflict, step families, sibling difficulties, family trauma, and issues. I support my clients in helping them explore relationships in all paths life takes them. Whether it’s with family/friends/work place/work colleagues/ food/exercise etc…….as we all need to have a healthy relationship with ourselves, before we can have other healthy relationships.

MY EXPERIENCE

I worked for Relate for 11 years where I was a couple counsellor/individual counsellor/family counsellor and young persons counsellor. I have two separate qualifications for working with adolescence. One is Play Therapy which is for 3 – 10-year-olds. The other is Child Lead which is 11 – 18 year olds.

I worked in the Relate center and also various schools around Hampshire, supporting couples, families and adolescents. Also, couples and families in the Royal Navy, Marines and Army.

After moving on from Relate, I worked in private and state schools, which included boarding schools. This entailed primary/junior and senior schools for 5 years. Supporting families and adolescents from 4 – 18 years old.

I have also volunteered for a charity called Off the record for 3 years, which was supporting young people.

Another charity was called headway, my work here was supporting clients with brain injuries, this was funded by the government so it was only for six months, but so rewarding.

My Family consultancy work comes from working with lawyers and mediators. I help support clients going through mediation, getting them ready so the conflict wasn’t an issue for the work to continue, other work entail supporting them in court, whether this was with parent alienation, coparenting issues, divorce or absent parents.

I now solely work within my private practice at home, which I started 10 years ago. I support families, individuals, couples and adolescents. Face to face and remotely.

MY APPROACH

I believe in the philosophy that we are all naturally creative and unique, we all have value, deserve respect and have an instinctive tendency to grow, change and achieve our full potential;

Sometimes life can get in the way of this and sometimes we need a third party to help support us through any difficult situations, we might be experiencing.  Often it can be hard to talk to those we are closest to; this can be extremely difficult for young people and teenagers, as well as Adults. The stuckness we might feel could be for fear of being judged or rejected, by our friends or loved ones.

As a Integrative Psychotherapist I support my clients with various approaches; which entail Humanistic Therapy, Person-centred Therapy, Systemic Therapy, Cognitive behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.

Working within these approaches enable me to offer clients talking or creative therapy, they have the opportunity to discover what works best for them.

Together, we can work on strategies that allow the clients to address the route courses of their difficulties and build meaningful, social connections.
