ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Lucy.

I’m a qualified and experienced psychotherapist, and I bring a warm, genuine presence to my work. I’m curious, kind, and thoughtful, and I take an active, compassionate role in exploring what matters to you, helping us find a way forward that feels right for you.

Some people come to therapy with something specific they want to explore or untangle. Others arrive simply with a sense of unease or feeling stuck, unsure of where to begin. However you come, I’ll meet you with warmth, empathy, and care. Together, we’ll explore what’s going on for you, at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

At the heart of my work is a belief in the importance of the therapeutic relationship. When you feel heard, accepted, and not judged, something begins to shift. I offer a space that supports emotional and psychological safety, where you can be met just as you are. I’m mindful of how distressing or traumatic experiences can leave lasting marks on both body and mind, and I aim to be alongside you as we navigate what emerges. Through our work, you may come to a deeper understanding of yourself, of long-standing patterns, emotional responses, and the impact of your past. With insight and self-awareness can come the possibility of change, healing, and new ways of being in the world.

MY EXPERIENCE

I’ve completed over five years of UKCP accredited clinical training and supervision at The Metanoia Institute, where I was awarded a Postgraduate Clinical Diploma in Psychotherapy and a masters in Person-Centred Psychotherapy (accredited by Middlesex University), graduating with distinction.

Throughout my career, I have worked in a range of settings, including:
• Community therapy services, offering trauma-informed counselling to adults experiencing anxiety, depression, complex PTSD, bipolar disorder and the impact of abuse and trauma
• Cancer support services, providing emotional support to individuals and families affected by cancer, bereavement and anticipatory grief
• Bereavement counselling services, offering online therapy to clients adjusting to loss and change following the death of a loved one
• Inpatient mental health services, supporting adults with severe and enduring difficulties including psychosis, personality disorders, self-harm and suicidal ideation
• Private practice, providing in-person and online psychotherapy to adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, bereavement, trauma, relationship difficulties and feelings of stuckness.

MY APPROACH

I am a person-centred psychotherapist, which means I believe that everyone has an innate capacity for growth, healing and change when met with the right therapeutic conditions. My role is to offer a warm, accepting and genuine space where we can explore your thoughts and feelings together at your own pace.

Rather than applying techniques or directing the process, I work collaboratively, trusting that you are the expert on your own experience. Together, we can make sense of what you are going through and support you in reconnecting with your own inner resources and sense of self.

I adhere to the ethical framework of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and am committed to offering therapy that is safe, respectful and of the highest professional standard. This provides us both with the reassurance that I am working ethically and am committed to deepening my knowledge and skills throughout my working life.
