ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Octavia.

I am passionate about helping people overcome the obstacles that life may present them with. I have so far dedicated my career to the Mental Health field and to the understanding of human behaviours, thoughts and feelings in more depth. This has given me the chance to learn that most of our unhelpful acts, thoughts and feelings are rooted in our past experiences, the relationships we have had with people along the way and the hurt and pain that we have experienced in life.

Therefore, my role is to help you understand and make sense of your issues. I do not judge my clients when they choose to start therapy with me, I am here to help you explore what may be the underlying causes of your struggles, so that you can gain more insight into your mental health and gain better coping mechanisms. I would be honoured to be your compassionate guide on your journey towards self-discovery, growth and change.

MY EXPERIENCE

I have a Degree in Psychology and a BACP-Accredited Master’s Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Throughout my career, I have worked in various settings, including:

  • Inpatient Mental Health Services for individuals struggling with Severe Depression, Severe Anxiety, Psychosis, Personality Disorders, Self-Harm and Suicidal Ideation
  • Mental Health Crisis Service, where I supported people struggling with severe Depression and Anxiety, Low Self-Esteem, Trauma, Loss, Stress and Familial Issues in a face-to-face setting, via a helpline and in an outreach setting
  • Supporting sixth form students with their mental health needs
  • Supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a residential setting
  • Supporting survivors of domestic violence
  • For the past few years, I have been working within my own private practice, supporting clients struggling with a wide range of presenting issues, as well as fulfilling the role of Placement Manager, supporting Trainee Therapists throughout their journey towards qualifying

MY APPROACH

I am an integrative therapist. This means that I incorporate different therapeutic approaches in my work with clients. This allows me to tailor each session to your individual needs.  Therefore, I can offer you flexibility depending on what you need at any given time throughout your time with me.

In my work with clients, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centred Approach and Attachment Theory.

I follow the ethical code set out by BACP as it is my priority to ensure that all the work I undertake is delivered to the highest standard possible.
