ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Ruth and I have worked as an Integrative therapist in private practice and for Anxiety UK for over four years. Additionally, I am currently employed part time as a Sessional Counsellor/ Psychotherapist at BUPA.

I have always had a great interest in the way people think and behave, and I feel very fortunate for having been able to turn this passion into my profession. I enjoy working with people from different backgrounds, with different ethnicities, beliefs and identities. I will offer you a safe space where we will explore your thoughts and feelings together in a non-judgmental way, where you will be able to get a deeper understanding of how you function and why, and where we can work towards an outcome that you desire.

Therapy is a creative and collaborative process between the therapist and client, which can be challenging at times, and I will be there to support you throughout this journey.

MY EXPERIENCE

I completed a BACP accredited Integrative Counselling training and started working in my own private practice in 2022.

During my training and working on my career as a therapist, I was working full time in a low/medium supported accommodation, where I supported people with Forensic History, Trauma, Personality Disorders, Substance Misuse and Psychosis, advocated for them Substance Misuse and Psychosis, advocated for them and liaised with different organisations and medical professionals.

I currently work as a therapist both face to face and remotely in my private practice and for BUPA. This includes working with international clients as well.

In my private practice I have been working with clients struggling with Anxiety, Depression, Low Self Esteem, Exploring Identity, and more, but my practice has a particular focus on Attachment and Relationships related issues.

Many people find dating and intimate relationships difficult to navigate, especially in the era of social media and dating apps, that can be very confusing. Therapy can offer a space to explore how early attachments may have impacted on how you function in relationships, manage intimacy, vulnerability, expectations, and develop a deeper understanding of any recurring patterns, which will lead to greater authenticity and ability to create more meaningful relationships.

MY APPROACH

As an Integrative therapist trained in different modalities including Attachment, Psychodynamic, Person Centred and CBT, I have always tried to find an approach most suited for the specific needs of each person. My approach is holistic, taking into consideration all aspects of your life, which gives us more tools to work with and to approach the issues from different angles, which increases the chances of the therapy being successful.

My work is based on active listening and a strong rapport with clients. We will review the work progress we make regularly to make sure you are satisfied with the progress and that the goals we established at the beginning are being met.

I attend monthly supervision and I am committed to continuous learning in my field, so my knowledge is up to date with the latest research in psychology, neuroscience and psychotherapy.

I adhere to the Ethical Standards of BACP as it is outlined in their Code of Ethics.
